Surrey have signed Sri Lanka's left-arm spinner Rangana Herath on a short-term deal running until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old has taken 59 wickets in 18 Test appearances and joins Surrey after they were unable to bring India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh back to the club.
Surrey cricket manager Chris Adams told the club's official website: "We have three Championship matches to go and it's important for our momentum going into next year that we finish the season in winning fashion.
"Spin plays a huge part at the back end of a season and securing a top-class International spinner like Rangana Herath will hopefully help us to close out matches and turn good positions into wins.
Managing director of Surrey cricket Gus Mackay added: "Going into the last three matches, we're still just 20 points off a promotion place so we will be pushing hard to get the most out of our last three matches.
"An international spinner is just what we need to bolster our side and I'm confident that we will finish the season on a high."
