Opening batsman Will Jefferson has left Nottinghamshire after three seasons at Trent Bridge.
The 29-year-old former Essex right-hander has been out of the first eleven picture in recent months and has decided to move on.
He told the county's official website: "Due to a combination of injuries and lack of consistency I feel it's time to move on.
"I'm very sad it hasn't worked out for me at Notts, but it has been an honour to represent the club over the past three seasons."
Notts director of cricket Mick Newell added: "I always look to sign players who have performed consistently well against us and I genuinely thought that Will would kick on and do well here.
"I'm amazed it hasn't worked out for him, because he is a talented player and I have no doubt that he can continue playing first-class cricket."
