White handed Somerset reins

Somerset have appointed Australian all-rounder Cameron White as stand-in captain, following an injury to Ian Blackwell.

Blackwell requires surgery on a shoulder injury and may be ruled out for the rest of the season, with 22-year-old White handed the reins after impressing during his first few months with the county.

Aussie leg-spinner White told the county's official website: "I am very honoured to be asked to take on this job with Somerset and was only too delighted to accept when it was offered to me.

"Obviously I am very sorry for Ian Blackwell, who is a great guy and I hope that he soon gets himself fixed and back out on the park again."
