Vaughan praises Tres impact

England captain Michael Vaughan has paid a handsome tribute to former team-mate Marcus Trescothick, who has retired from international cricket.

The 32-year-old left-hander has struggled with stress-related illnesses in recent times, having played in 76 Test matches and 123 one-day internationals for his country.

Vaughan told reporters: "On behalf of all the England team, I would like to thank Marcus for his contribution to the team.

"He's been an outstanding performer for England in both formats of the game. He was a pleasure to captain and a terrific influence on the dressing room.

"It is a tough decision for any international cricketer to make, but I believe it's the right thing for him and he has my full support as he moves on to the next stage of his county career.

"I know how much Somerset County Cricket Club means to him and I know he will dedicate his energies to bringing them success."
