South Africa 187-1 against England in first Test

South Africa were 187 for one in reply to England's first innings 385, a deficit of 198 runs, at lunch on the third day of the first Test at The Oval here on Saturday.

South Africa captain Graeme Smith was 103 not out and Hashim Amla 80 not out.

This is the first of a three-match series.

If South Africa win the series they will replace England at the top of the International Cricket Council's Test rankings.
