Smith hails Sabres bowlers

Somerset skipper Graeme Smith hailed the performances of his bowlers after the Sabres won the Twenty20 Cup final against Lancashire Lightning at The Oval.

South Africa captain Smith was playing his last game for the county before leaving for international duty and went out with a bang, hitting an unbeaten 64 to guide his side to a comfortable seven-wicket win.

Afterwards though, Smith said the efforts of the Sabres bowling attack were crucial in the win over Lancashire and the semi-final victory against reigning champions Leicestershire.

"It means a lot. It is a great feeling to have been part of it. It is just fantastic. I'm going away with a really good feeling," Smith said.

"I had a role to play but I wouldn't like to take all the credit. There are some good young players here and a good collective feeling.

"We defended 157 against Leicestershire and then kept Lancashire to 114. There's some good youth and there really can be a lot of success for this club in the future.

"They can only learn from playing games in front of crowds like this."
