Sarwan looks to succeed

Gloucestershire new boy Ramnaresh Sarwan is looking forward to his Championship debut against Sussex following a low-key start to life in England.

The West Indies batsman will make his four-day bow at Hove on Wednesday, having managed just three in the rain-affected National League defeat to Worcestershire at the weekend.

Sarwan told the club's official website: "I'm really looking forward to the Championship match at Hove because it will give me more time to play myself into some form.

"Hopefully, the weather will improve and we will see some sunshine for the Sussex game. I want some time in the middle and hopefully I can then start making a real contribution.

"The other players have told me a lot about Cheltenham and how good the pitches are for batting so I am looking forward to playing there too.

"It's not an easy time to come into the side with our positions in the leagues as they are.

"But I am here until the end of the season and hope I can help make a difference."
