Ryan earns England award

Left-arm seamer Ryan Sidebottom has been named as England's Player of the Year, following a superb return to the international arena.

The 30-year-old Nottinghamshire ace has become the spearhead of the England attack in the last 12 months, but has vowed not to get carried away by his recent success.

He commented: "This time last year I was training with Nottinghamshire and just playing regular county cricket, so it's been a massive turnaround.

"But I don't want to get carried away with it and I'm relishing the chance to play at Lord's again. The other ten guys in the team have made me feel very welcome, which has allowed me to get on with my job.

"I suppose it goes out to all the players because one player doesn't make a team.

"I don't want to get too carried away because things can change quickly. It's just a case of keeping doing the basics.

"I feel I've matured and developed as a bowler and am very proud to have played a role in England's successes over the past 12 months."
