Rain hits Smith's hopes
Cricket Scotland chief executive Roddy Smith has admitted to a huge disappointment over the one-day clash with Australia being rained out.
Heavy rain in Edinburgh made any play on Thursday impossible, leaving Smith to ponder a large slice of bad luck.
He told The Scotsman: "Pakistan and Sri Lanka are coming to tour England next year and we're very hopeful of getting one, if not both of them, to come to play us.
"It's very frustrating not being able to play. I've been down here the last nine days and it's been nice. We haven't had any rain at all and the one day we need it to be dry it's not.
"So it's very disappointing. A lot of people here had made a lot of effort to get the ground looking good. It was great to sell the game out."
Scotland skipper Craig Wright added: "The players are gutted and obviously there are a lot of spectators here who are disappointed too.
"There's absolutely nothing we can do and it's really unfortunate, particularly after we've had such a good summer.
"Hopefully we will get more opportunities to have games like this over the next year or two."
