Northants face double blow
Northamptonshire's plans for next season have been disrupted by the news that they cannot register South African duo Andrew Hall and Johan van der Wath.
The duo have been denied the chance to play county cricket as Kolpak players, having played domestic cricket in their homeland within the last 12 months.
The ECB have chosen to act as both men have signed up with the breakaway Indian Cricket League, although Nicky Boje and Lance Klusener have been cleared to continue at Wantage Road.
Northants chief executive Mark Tagg told the county's official website: "Obviously we are desperately disappointed for the club, the fans and the players involved that the ECB have turned down their registration applications.
"These were finally rejected because of their involvement in the unauthorised Indian Cricket League (ICL) and the refusal of the ECB to grant a waiver in respect of their appearances for South Africa during the last 12 months.
"The players had signed long-term contracts with the club and it would appear that they will now be unable to fulfil them."
Kent recruit Justin Kemp, Derbyshire's Wavell Hinds and Gloucestershire's Hamish Marshall have also had their applications to play in county cricket rejected.
