No call-up for Colly
England have named an unchanged 12-man squad for the Second Test against Australia starting on Thursday at Edgbaston.
Durham all-rounder Paul Collingwood had been strongly tipped for a call-up after the First Test ended in a 239-run defeat to the tourists, but chairman of selectors David Graveney said he and his panel were content to stick with the squad that lost that game.
He told BBC Sport: "We met on the Monday after the First Test and the performance of the side was very vivid in our minds.
"We have managed to become the second-ranked team in the world by being as consistent as possible with selection.
"There has been a lot of debate about those under pressure in the team and the outstanding form of Paul Collingwood, but we decided that we wanted to stick with the same 12 and didn't want to shake up that squad."
Hampshire's Chris Tremlett is again likely to miss out when the final eleven is announced on the morning of the game.
Squad: Vaughan (capt), Trescothick, Strauss, Bell, Pietersen, Flintoff, G Jones (wkt), Giles, Hoggard, Harmison, S Jones, Tremlett.
