Miller offers hope to Read

Nottinghamshire wicketkeeper Chris Read has been given renewed hope of securing an England recall if he maintains his fine recent form.

The 29-year-old, who has played in 15 Tests and 36 one-day internationals, has been out of the international picture for well over a year, having fallen out of favour under former coach Duncan Fletcher.

However, after making an excellent start to the new county season, Read has been told by National Selector Geoff Miller that he is still in the picture.

Miller told BBC Radio Nottingham: "The Notts public might have to watch this space. We will keep our options open.

"Yes, he was discussed and he will continue to be discussed.

"Chris knows we're around the grounds all the time, and will keep in touch with how we're feeling.

"From his point of view it's a matter of consistently putting in the performances."
