Injury relief for Vaughan
England captain Michael Vaughan is relieved to have overcome an injury scare to lead his side out in the second Test against Australia at Edgbaston.
Vaughan was struck on the right elbow by a ball from Hampshire paceman Chris Tremlett during net practice on Tuesday.
He was taken to hospital for an x-ray, which revealed severe bruising but no fracture, but he was able to net against Steve Harmison and Ashley Giles on Wednesday morning to prove his fitness.
The Yorkshire batsman revealed: "It's a little bit sore but it's nice to be fit.
"It hit me right at the end of the elbow and when I first felt the pain I feared the worst. If it had been a break it would not just have been just one Test it would have been a lot more.
"A lot of emotions run through your mind. It's a great feeling when you get the x-rays back and there's no break.
"I think I trapped a nerve and that's what caused the pain, but I've had an injection and I feel fine. I'm fit and looking forward to the game."
