Hoggy happy to be back
Swing bowler Matthew Hoggard is delighted to be back in the England fold, having been named in the 12-man squad for the first Test against New Zealand.
The 31-year-old Yorkshireman is in contention for a place in the Lord's clash, having impressed for his county in the early weeks of the season.
Hoggard said: "There's a long way to go, but obviously I'm very happy about being included.
"However, the eleven who played in the last Test in New Zealand finished with two winning Test,s so I need to keep knocking on the door because they're in the driving seat at the moment.
"I was hoping to get back into the squad because I thought I'd done enough to get back in and make sure I stayed in.
"If I hadn't been in the squad I'd have thought that could have been the end of me.
"I worked hard in New Zealand and I've been working hard since I've been back in England and, hopefully, I've put in the right amount of work and had the right attitude to show them that I still want to play for England."
