Harbhajan handed long ban

Harbhajan Singh has been found guilty of hitting Sree Santh and handed an 11-match ban in the IPL.

The controversial 27-year-old will miss the Mumbai Indians' remaining group games but could return to action if they reach the semi-finals.

Harbhajan, who was captaining the beaten Mumbai Indians at the time, allegedly hit the Kings XI Punjab paceman and left him in tears.

The player will also lose his match fees for the whole tournament after the incident in last Friday's game.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed it will take separate action against Harbhajan because he is a centrally-contracted player.

Harbhajan has previously been involved in several high-profile disciplinary incidents and was at the centre of a racism storm when India took on Australia in an ill-tempered series earlier this year.
