Elliott agrees Glamorgan return

Matthew Elliott has agreed to return to Glamorgan next season and hopes to be joined by his fellow Australian Michael Kasprowicz.

The opener has returned to his homeland after a knee injury cut short his involvement with the Division One strugglers this term.

Although Elliott averaged 53.28 this season, his efforts were not enough to guide Glamorgan to a single County Championship victory and he is looking forward to the challenge of helping the team regain its top-flight status next summer.

"I have signed up with Glamorgan for another season and I can't wait to come back in 2006," he told the Western Mail.

"Everyone knows it's been a dreadful season, but with myself and hopefully Kasper on board and the boys raring to go we'll aim to bounce back out of Division Two.

"Certainly if David Hemp can replicate the season he has had then there is no reason why Glamorgan can't stack up the runs next year.

"I'm just looking to make up for the disappointments of this summer when I return in April."

Both Elliott and Kasprowicz are familiar figures in Wales having already spent three seasons each with Glamorgan.
