Collingwood moves up

England Test hopeful Paul Collingwood was delighted after hitting a superb unbeaten 181 on the first day of Durham's Championship clash with Somerset.

Collingwood hit a career-best 190 against Derbyshire last week and followed that up with another big century at Taunton.

"This is exactly what I have to do," England one-day star Collingwood said.

"This is what I've had to do over the last few years and what I want to continue to do - make big runs. Hopefully then I might get a chance, but they are all good players in the side now and I'm sure they will put the job right.

"I moved up to number three to get real big runs. I know it doesn't sound much moving up from four to three, but I had to get in there and make a statement and it's been a good move.

"The Derby innings was good, but I'm particularly pleased today against the quality of that bowling, especially when it was swinging around in the first three hours or so."
