Century delight for Sayers
Joe Sayers was delighted to hit his first century as Yorkshire chased down a final innings target of 397 to beat Leicestershire at Scarborough.
Despite the daunting target, Yorkshire managed to record a six wicket success thanks to some impressive batting.
Opener Sayers hit 104 from 347 balls and had strong support from Matthew Wood's 70, Anthony McGrath's 89 and half centuries from Australian pair Ian Harvey and Phil Jaques.
Despite his crucial role in the victory, Sayers insisted it had been a team effort.
"The important thing is that we got 400 for four and I'm part of a winning side," said the 21-year-old.
"To come back as we have is a great feeling and we're all enjoying that in the changing room at the moment.
"I just tried to do my job which was to occupy the crease and try to forge partnerships with the top order.
"It was very difficult to get there, very challenging, but part of the philosophy of this team is to enjoy our challenges and we're getting the rewards for that now.
"It was a big chase but we just broke it down into pieces and tried to get there run by run."
