Aussies to turn to Tait

Australia look poised to turn to Shaun Tait for the fourth Test against England at Trent Bridge and end Jason Gillespie's Ashes agony.

Gillespie has taken just three wickets in three matches at an average of 100 and has been omitted from the final warm-up match against Northamptonshire.

That seems to signal that Tait will be handed a chance to make his Test debut for the tourists, a prospect that excites the 22-year-old paceman.

He told The Australian: "I can't be much readier. I've bowled a fair bit in the nets and my fitness is good and I'm absolutely raring to go.

"I have quite a strange slingy action and it seems to help the reverse swing."

Australia skipper Ricky Ponting also hinted that Tait would feature on Thursday, adding: "England have three guys doing it (reverse swinging) at 145kmh or more and we just haven't got that at the moment.

"The hardest thing about facing reverse swing bowling is the pace it's delivered at, because then it tends to swing a lot later.

"When it's swinging late at 145kmh it's pretty difficult to play and we've only got one guy, Brett Lee, who can do that for us."
