Anderson concern for England

England suffered an injury worry after the close of play on day three of the second Test against New Zealand in Wellington.

Fast bowler James Anderson, who took 5-73 in the Black Caps' first innings, fell over playing football and twisted his left ankle, before being forced to leave the Basin Reserve on crutches.

An England team spokesman confirmed: "He can put weight on it. The crutches were a precaution.

"We do not know whether he will be able to bowl at this stage, although the medical staff have not sent him for a scan. He will be reassessed in the morning."

Anderson will be crucial to England's chances of victory, having impressed in the home side's first innings after being preferred to Matthew Hoggard.
