Afridi set for Hampshire spell

Feb 21 2011 - 13:00:19

Pakistan one-day captain Shahid Afridi has signed to play for Hampshire in their Friends Provident t20 campaign.

The 30-year-old all-rounder had been due to link up with county last year before pulling out to take on the Test captaincy, albeit briefly.

"Having played at The Rose Bowl for Pakistan last year, I know that it is fast becoming one of the best places in the country to watch cricket of all levels," said Afridi. "I hope very much to play a big part in the club's success in 2011."

Afridi is Hampshire's second overseas player for the tournament, joining South Africa spinner Imran Tahir.
