Yuvraj Singh latest bigshot Middx want for Twenty20 Cup

Yuvraj will sign for Middlesex to play in the early part of the Twenty20 Cup if he is free from commitments with India, who are expected to announce shortly a tri-series involving Sri Lanka - and possibly New Zealand - starting on July 9. The deal will be part-financed by the MCC and Yuvraj replaces the original target, Sachin Tendulkar, who turned down an offer to concentrate on prolonging his international career.
Middlesex, winners of the 2008 Twenty20 Cup, failed to qualify from the group stage of last year's competition.
The Indian government on Monday weighed into the debate about player security at the forthcoming Indian Premier League. Palaniappan Chidambaram, the Indian home minister, has guaranteed the players' safety following recent threats to Australian cricketers from right-wing groups based in Mumbai, which has left player associations locked in a stand-off with IPL officials over security details. 'Let Australian players come to India. Let them play in Mumbai and I will guarantee them full security,' Chidambaram said.
