Lancashire have won the race to sign Stephen Moore whose departure from Worcestershire was confirmed on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old had been at New Road since 2003 but has opted to leave the county following their relegation from the first division of the County Championship after they failed to win a game all season.
Moore said of his move: "To join a club of Lancashire's stature is a fantastic opportunity for me at this stage in my career.
"I'm confident that the club will provide me with the platform to grow and develop as a player and person."
Meanwhile, Mike Watkinson, Lancashire's cricket director, said: "Stephen is a highly-regarded batsman with a proven track record in county cricket, who will add quality to our top order in all forms of cricket.
"Not only will Stephen's arrival strengthen our batting unit but he will compliment those younger members of the squad who we see taking on more responsibility in the future."
