Lasith Malinga returns to Sri Lanka squad for Champions Trophy

Lasith Malinga has been included in Sri Lanka's Champions Trophy squad, having not featured in one-day internationals since November 2015.

The 33-year-old pace bowler is a box office attraction but has suffered with injury in recent years and has become known most readily as a Twenty20 specialist.

He was ruled out of last year's World T20 in India on fitness grounds but has been cleared to play a full part in England for the June tournament.

Seamer Nuwan Pradeep and batsman Chamara Kapugedera have also been included in the 15-man panel despite being peripheral figures in recent 50-over squads.

Captain Angelo Mathews is, as expected, fit to lead the trip after a hamstring injury.

Sri Lanka squad: A Mathews (c), U Tharanga (vc), N Dikwella, K Perera, K Mendis, C Kapugedera, A Gunarathna, D Chandimal, L Malinga, S Lakmal, N Pradeep, N Kulasekera, T Perera, L Sandakan, S Prasanna.
