Kallis ensures England toil

An unbeaten century from Jacques Kallis ensured that honours were even after the first day of the third Test between South Africa and England in Cape Town.
Kallis ended the day on 108, made from 188 balls faced and including 11 boundaries, with the hosts having reached 279-6 when bad light brought a halt to proceedings at Newlands.
England made a perfect start as Ashwell Prince departed for a duck, edging a James Anderson outswinger to wicketkeeper Matt Prior.
It was 46-2 when Graham Onions trapped Hashim Amla leg before wicket for 14, before the Anderson-Prior combination worked again to get rid of Proteas skipper Graeme Smith for 30.
Jacques Kallis and AB de Villiers (36) then dug in to stop the rot, before the latter chipped a catch to Andrew Strauss at mid-wicket off the off-spin of Graeme Swann.
Swann then had JP Duminy caught behind by Prior first ball to reduce the hosts to 127-5.
Kallis was joined by Mark Boucher and the experienced duo added 87 runs for the sixth wicket to take their side past the 200-mark.
Stuart Broad eventually broke the partnership by trapping Boucher lbw for 51, made from 86 balls and including seven boundaries.
However, Kallis continued on in his usual steadfast fashion and brought up his 33rd Test hundred with an off-driven boundary off the occasional spin of Kevin Pietersen.
Dale Steyn was 26 not out at the close, with he and Kallis having added an unbroken 63 for the seventh wicket.
