Paul Collingwood is expected to be fit to take his place in the England side for the third Test against South Africa.
The middle-order batsman remains a minor doubt for the game at Kingsmead after he dislocated his left index finger in the last encounter in Durban.
He could not take to the field in the final sessions of the innings and 98-run victory after picking up the injury during the warm-up before the fourth day's play.
However, after taking part in light net sessions on Friday and Saturday in the build-up to the third Test which begins in Cape Town on Sunday, captain Andrew Strauss is optimistic that Collingwood will be passed fit to play.
"At this stage, everything looks fine. He was batting without any real discomfort," revealed Strauss. "We're very hopeful, barring any last-minute incidents.
"He's obviously contributed a huge amount, both this series and previously and is an experienced player as well - so it would have been a shame if he'd missed out."
Hampshire left-hander Michael Carberry has been called up to the squad as cover should Collingwood fail to pass a late fitness test.
