Grant to quit Derbyshire chairmanship to pursue ECB role

Chris Grant has announced he will step down from his position as Derbyshire chairman next month in order to stand for an England and Wales Cricket Board role.

Grant will have served six years as chairman by the time he resigns at the county's annual general meeting on March 29, with Ian Morgan achieving unanimous support to be elected into the role, subject to official protocol.

Grant said: "Serving as chairman of Derbyshire County Cricket Club for the last six years has been a huge honour.

"However, I have signalled my intention to stand for election to the ECB and I believe that by stepping down from my county role, I will be better equipped, if elected, to discharge the duties of a director of the ECB without conflict."
