Australia vice-captain Michael Clarke has left the tour of New Zealand to return home for personal reasons, Cricket Australia announced on Monday.
Clarke leaves the side on the eve of Tuesday's third one-day international in Hamilton.
"Michael is attending to personal, non-cricket matters and we ask on his behalf that his privacy be respected," said Michael Brown, Cricket Australia general manager of cricket.
It is not known at this stage how long Clarke will be away from the team.
Australia's selectors will meet on Tuesday to decide whether a replacement will be called up. They will also announce the squad for the three-Test series which follows the one-dayers.
Australia and New Zealand are currently locked at 1-1 after two pulsating ODIs.
